Dr. Alan Ellis Appointed Interim Head

The School of Social Work is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Alan Ellis as Interim Head.

Dr. Ellis came to NC State in July 2014 after 17 years at UNC-Chapel Hill. During his time at the SSW, Dr. Ellis has dedicated himself to conducting quality research on mental health services, child mental health, and improving research methods. In addition, his favorite subjects to teach include social justice and program evaluation.

“I’m excited to be taking on this new role to support the mission of the School of Social Work! Through leadership based on my values– clarity, empathy, integrity, purpose, and trust– I look forward to helping the School thrive and demonstrate excellence in teaching, research, scholarship, and community engagement,” said Dr. Ellis.

Professor Trinette Langley, BSW Program Director at NC State, is optimistic about the changes Dr. Ellis will bring to the school. “He brings to this position a strong commitment to academic excellence. Dr. Ellis is highly respected by both students and colleagues, and I’m confident he will lead the School of Social Work thoughtfully, fostering a spirit of collaboration during this time of transition. I look forward to supporting his vision and working alongside him in the months ahead,” she said.
