Welcoming Our New Faculty Members

The School of Social Work welcomes three new faculty members for the fall 2024 semester!

We are excited to have them join us, as they bring a variety of backgrounds and experiences to our school community.

Aneesah Johnson holds degrees from both Shaw University and Rutgers University with a B.A. in Mass Communications and a Master of Social Work, respectively. Over the last two cades she has served populations in both New Jersey and North Carolina, creating better outcomes along the way. During this time, Professor Johnson has held the titles of Sr. Case Manager, Community Support Lead, Therapist, In-Home Social Worker, Program Coordinator, and Child and Family Team Facilitator. Professor Johnson hopes to bring this plethora of industry experience and insights to the classroom.

Cassi Rodgers holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Science in Developmental Psychology from Lancaster University, and a Master of Social Work from North Carolina State University. Her professional journey is marked by a deep commitment to improving population health outcomes and advancing the well-being of diverse communities.

As a Population Health Manager, Professor Rodgers has been instrumental in developing and implementing programs that address the needs of underrepresented populations. She has worked in child welfare, substance use, and behavioral health across multiple inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. Professor Rodgers previously taught at NC State as a graduate teaching assistant and is thrilled to join the School of Social Work as part time faculty.

Carleigh Weaver is a seasoned clinician who has eight years of clinical experience with adults and juveniles in various settings, including community mental health, incarceration, medication-assisted treatment facilities, treatment courts, and outpatient individual and group therapy treatment centers. Carleigh currently owns her private practice, Tides of Change Therapy Services PLLC, and also provides clinical supervision to LCSW-A’s in the state of North Carolina. Most recently, she completed Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy training and provides treatment for complex trauma using this modality. Carleigh obtained her Master of Social Work degree from the University of South Carolina, and a Bachelor of Social Work from James Madison University.
