Faculty Appointed to Council on Social Work Education Roles
Three School of Social Work faculty members were recently appointed to new roles with the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE).
Professor Crystal Campbell was appointed as a member to the CSWE Council on the Role and Status of Women in Social Work Education. In addition to providing awareness, this council also works for the full participation of individuals who identify as women, uplifting their work, facilitating mentorships for peers, junior faculty, and students through their education journey.
Enthusiastic for this opportunity, Professor Campbell stated, “Being appointed to this role is both humbling and energizing. It’s a privilege to join this esteemed group advocating for women in social work education. Initially, I felt a wave of gratitude for the opportunity to contribute my experiences and perspectives. But more importantly, I’m driven by a passion to amplify the voices and achievements of women in our field. Through my service on the Council, I hope to champion initiatives that create a more inclusive environment, foster strong mentorship programs, and ensure women have equal access to leadership roles within social work education.”
Professor Trinette Langley was appointed as a Board of Accreditation Site Visitor and as a member of CSWE’s Program Director’s Academy.
As a site visitor, Professor Langley will operate under the authority of the CSWE Board of Accreditation to gather information related to gather information related to Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS) from accredited social work programs.
As part of her selection for the Program Director’s Academy, Professor Langley will participate in a one year program to foster emerging faculty leaders. This includes activities, such as a Summer Leadership Institute, Leader Development Institute at the CSWE Annual Program Meeting, and frequent trainings, webinars, and networking opportunities.
“From this opportunity, I hope to gain deep insights into effective program leadership and administration within social work education. I look forward to expanding my knowledge of best practices in curriculum development, student engagement, faculty support, and accreditation processes. I am eager to learn from esteemed colleagues and contribute to shaping the future of social work education. This acceptance reaffirms my commitment to my professional growth, advancing social work practice, and serving our students and our communities,” said Professor Langley.
Professor Nashia Whittenburg was appointed to the CSWE Council on Conferences and Faculty Development (CCFD) for a three-year term. The CCFD works alongside staff to implement the Annual Program Meeting and regional conferences, as well as set policy guidelines for CSWE-sponsored faculty development initiatives.
Speaking on her appointment, Professor Whittenburg said, “Stepping into Social Work as a practitioner for CSWE’s Council on Conferences and Faculty Development Appointment has been confirmation of being seen within the spectrum of social work. Having the responsibility of shaping faculty development appointment is an exciting and transformative professional social work service that I am excited to embark upon.”
