The ACC Academic Leaders Network (ALN) aims to leverage collaboration and innovation to build leadership capacity. Professor Sontina Barnes, a longtime Senior Lecturer at the NC State SSW, was selected to join as a 2024 ACC ALN fellow to further this mission.
The 2024 Program will host multi-day on-site sessions at ACC Universities, including Clemson University, the University of Louisville, and NC State University. The sessions are designed to build leadership awareness and effectiveness in the context of higher education and facilitate conversations over a range of topics that support leadership growth.
Professor Barnes is enthusiastic about this upcoming opportunity. In particular, her goals included:
- Interacting with faculty from the ACC network for professional development opportunities and to explore academic ventures for professional track faculty
- Engaging with administration throughout the ACC in exploring and understanding identified areas of concern for students across diverse campuses
- Exploring innovative solutions for issues surrounding students socially, economically, and politically
