Professors Barnes and Rios Earn Promotions

Our School is proud to announce the promotions of Professor Sontina Barnes and Professor Isabel Rios! These promotions will be effective as of August 16, 2023.

Professor Barnes, who also serves as the Coordinator for our School’s JD/MSW Dual Degree Program, will be promoted to Senior Lecturer. According to Dr. Yarneccia D. Dyson, Head of the School, “Professor Barnes brings a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and community engaged experiences as a colleague in our School of Social Work. The School is especially excited about her partnership in coordinating the JD/MSW degree program as well as expanding opportunities for students, faculty, and staff, to learn more about Forensic Social Work.”

Professor Rios, a long-time lecturer at the School of Social Work, will also be promoted to Senior Lecturer. In describing her many contributions, Dr. Dyson said, “Professor Rios is a valuable team member and thought partner in our School of Social Work who brings significant multicultural expertise and clinical experiences in helping students understand and value what it means to be a social worker. Her insights and perspectives have been instrumental to helping our School lead change together, forward.”
