Professor Langley Appointed Director of Undergraduate Programs and BSW Program Director
After pursuing internal nominations and recommendations, our School is elated to share that our colleague, Professor Trinette Boone-Langley, Senior Lecturer and BSW Field Coordinator, has been appointed as the Director of Undergraduate Programs and BSW Program Director for the School of Social Work. Professor Langley has over 15 years of teaching experience in higher education. She previously taught as an adjunct professor across the undergraduate and graduate programs within the School of Social Work. Prior to joining NC State full-time in 2021, Professor Langley served as the Director of Social Work and Assistant Professor leading the undergraduate program at Barton College. In addition, she was awarded Barton College’s 2020 Lincoln Financial Excellence in Teaching Award. In the fall of 2020, she was named Special Advisor to the President on Diversity and Inclusion. This appointment was an intentional role created to lead and advance diversity and inclusion policy, processes, initiatives, and systems within the campus community.
Professor Langley earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Social Work degree from East Carolina University. Her professional social work experience includes over 17 years of practice in juvenile delinquency, prevention, foster care, child abuse and neglect investigations, school social work, health disparities, and social work staff development. She is an equity-minded and community-engaged scholar and practitioner. Her passion and main areas of research are child welfare, intimate partner violence, and adult learners. Further, Professor Langley is a William C. Friday Fellow for Human Relations, a distinguished honor and leadership fellowship bestowed upon North Carolinians who demonstrate commitment to leading their communities possessing values of integrity, intention, and inclusion (Friday Fellowship, 2024).
