Featured Events for Fall 2019!

The fall semester has begun! Therefore, our department will be hosting several events in the coming months. Let’s take a moment to highlight just a few you’ll want to attend!

Fall 2019 Volunteer/Career Fair

Date/Time: September 23, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Location: Talley Student Union, Mountain Ballroom 

Summary: If you’re an NC State student or recent graduate, this is a must-attend event! Hosting roughly 40 organizations from across the Triangle, the Volunteer/Career Fair will be a one-stop-shop for students to learn of valuable volunteer, internship, part-time, and full-time job opportunities. This event is not exclusive to Social Work students, ALL students are welcome!

 

Lunch and Learn, A Panel Discussion on Social Justice and Community: Family Separations, ICE Raids, and Detention Centers

Date/Time: October 28, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Location: Caldwell Hall Lounge

Summary: This event will be a “Lunch and Learn” and will focus on the morality of current events surrounding U.S. immigration policy, featuring an experienced panel of speakers. Come listen, discuss, and learn at this FREE event!

 

MSW Information Sessions

Summary: Learn about our Master of Social Work program! Our Program Manager, Mr. Anthony Bennett, and MSW Program Director, Dr. Kim Stansbury, will be hosting a series of information sessions for persons interested in our MSW program. These sessions will contain detailed information about our program values, academic information, areas of study, and much more! NC State Open House

Date/Time: October 19, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Location: NC State University Campus (The Department of Social Work will have a table with representatives in Caldwell Lounge)

Summary: University Open House is your opportunity to learn more about what NC State has to offer. There is no formal schedule so you have the chance to learn about everything that interests you while on campus. The College of Humanities and Social Sciences will have department representatives to answer all of your questions in Caldwell Lounge. See the full event information here.

NC State Clinical Workshop Series, Integrated Healthcare: Leadership and the Effectiveness of Clinical Social Work Teams

Date/Time: December 5, 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM

Location: The Friday Institute for Educational Innovation

Summary: Our department is proud to announce the “NC State Clinical Workshop Series,” beginning on Dec. 5, 2019!

Our first workshop will focus on “Integrated Healthcare: Leadership and the Effectiveness of Clinical Social Work Teams.” This workshop will feature Vickie Leff, Duke University Palliative Care and NC State Department of Social Work faculty member. This workshop will provide clinical social workers with an understanding of evidence-based knowledge, skills, and awareness for leadership and clinical social work interprofessional team effectiveness.
