Masters Students Present Capstone Projects

On April 21, the Department of Social Work hosted a poster session in Caldwell Lounge.  Advanced-year social work students presented conference-style posters describing their year-long capstone projects, which included needs assessments and evaluations of social work interventions.  One student or group from each section of SW 590 delivered a podium presentation.  Podium presenters included Betsy Morton, Lina Jaramillo, and Erin Belleau (“Needs Assessment of Informal Hospice Caregivers”); Jenna Horgan (“Canciones del Campo: Community Music Therapy with Migrant Farmworkers”); and Hannah Rossi (“Psychiatric Boarding and Bed Need in North Carolina”).  Attendees included faculty, staff, students, field agency personnel, and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs Deanna Dannels, who complimented students on the quality of their work and on their poster presentations.

 

 

Seven students also presented capstone projects at the university’s Graduate Research Symposium on March 23, and Camie Tomlinson presented hers, “Learning to Support, Include, and Empower LGBTQ Youth in Substitute Care,” at an international conference, RTI International’s Ending Gender Inequalities Conference, on April 12.
