Dr. Karen Bullock Appointed to Executive Board of the North Carolina Serious Illness Coalition (NCSI)

The North Carolina Serious Illness Coalition is the evolution of the work done by the North Carolina Institute Of Medicine (NCIOM), which in partnership with agencies and organizations that provide care and advocacy around issues of aging, palliative care, hospice care, and long-term supports and services, convened the Task Force on Serious Illness Care in 2019. The Task Force consisted of over 60 expert members, including health care providers, community members, advocacy representatives, and family caregivers. Task Force on Serious Illness Care. The work is a continuation of statewide partnerships to advance the recommendations made in the Task Force’s Final Report, which was published in July 2020.  There are 13 Priority Recommendations in the Final Report

The vision of NCSI is to create a culture of care that prioritizes person-centered quality of life, access, and equity across the age spectrum for anyone with serious illness, their families, and their communities. In addition to this Coalition, Dr. Bullock is also a member of The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) Roundtable on Quality Care for People with Serious Illness.
