2016 Volunteer/Career Fair
On February 23rd, 2016 the Department of Social Work held our Annual Volunteer/Career Fair. A total of 15 agencies participated in the event held in Caldwell Hall. Students and faculty from various disciplines in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences were able to discuss and connect with agency representatives. The Department of Social Work has myriad connections to agencies including previous volunteer experiences as well as through field practicum at the BSW and MSW level.
The volunteer fair is primarily held to help students majoring in social work meet their required volunteer hours. In keeping with the Department’s community engagement mission, social work majors take three courses that require 40 hours of volunteer work. Volunteer opportunities and field practicum serve as networking opportunities and lead to potential job offers after graduation.
