NC State Leads in Promoting Diversity

North Carolina State University is one of the emerging collegiate leaders of diversity in the United States. Among one of the 88 universities awarded the 2014 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity by INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, NC State University is committed to establishing a more inclusive community by helping students from underrepresented communities succeed. NC State also excels in developing the cultural competence of students by offering classes with dual focuses on domestic and international diversity. The Social Work Department, in particular, offers courses that emphasize the importance of diversity as it pertains to promoting social justice and creating a more inclusive community. Additionally, the department strives to uphold the university’s value of diversity through active recruitment and retention of diverse faculty and staff.
