Social Work Enhancement Fund

What is it?

The Department of Social Work maintains the Enhancement Fund as a way of enriching the quality of our program as a learning and supportive community for our students, alumni, faculty, staff, field instructors, and other community partners.

How are the funds used?

The funds are used flexibly to respond to the Department’s interests and needs as they emerge.  Some examples of how we can use the fund include the following: professional conferences for students, our newsletter, and alumni events.

I’m excited to report that this year’s Social Work Advisory Council donated $875.00 to the Social Work Enhancement Fund. This was achieved through close to 100% member participation. These contributions will enable social work students to have an enriched academic experience by providing financial assistance for additional activities such as conferences and workshops that are not funded through tuition and state appropriations. We’re proud to have been able to contribute to such an important fund.

Chris Budnick, Chair of the Advisory Council

CHASS Brick Program

NC State University’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences has recently implemented an innovative and accessible way to commemorate alumni.  With the “Walk of Honor”, CHASS graduates can purchase a personalized, engraved brick to be placed collectively in a designated area on campus nearby your department.  The alumnus will be able to leave their permanent imprint on NC State University grounds.

The Social Work Department invites alumni, parents, family and friends to purchase the 100% tax deductible bricks.  These engraved bricks will be an enduring gift and a commemorative way to honor graduates of our department.  Proceeds from the sale of the “Walk of Honor” program will go directly to benefit our department.  With the Social Work Department looking forward to returning to the newly remodeled 1911 building on campus in the spring of 2008, buying a brick now will provide perfect timing to honor your NC State history.

For $75, Donors can customize their 4” x 8” brick at an affordable cost, which includes installation fees.  Orders can be conveniently placed by check or credit card, and a 3-month installment plan is available as an option.  For more details and to place your order on-line, please visit www.chass.ncsu.edu/bricks, or contact Katherine Whaley at Tel 919.515.5973 or katherine_whaley@ncsu.edu if you have any questions.

The Social Work Field Enhancement Fund

The Social Work Field Enhancement fund allows the field program to provide a strong, supportive learning environment for students, field instructors, faculty and other community partners.

Funds will be used to enhance the program's ability to interact effectively with students and their field instructors in a friendly, warm atmosphere through flexible and responsive means. Examples of that flexibility would be the use of off campus space in order to comfortably accommodate a large group of students and field instructors with ready, easy parking facilities. Field instructors are crucial to success for students in internships. Their participation is voluntary and necessary. The Social Work Department wants field instructors and students to have a rich and rewarding experience including attendance at department meetings that contribute to understanding and appreciating the field internship.

This fund is accessed through donations from alumni, faculty, students, field instructors and other community partners. The field liaisons and coordinators are important parties in the fund raising endeavors.

Please mail your donation to the Social Work Field Enhancement Fund, Department of Social Work, NC State University, Campus Box 7639, Raleigh, NC 27695-7639. Please make your check to NC State Foundation, Inc., with Field Enhancement Fund noted on the memo line.

Thank you for your donation.
