Advisory Council
The North Carolina State University Department of Social Work Advisory Council is composed social work alumni, social workers, community professionals, and student representatives whose primary purpose is to connect the Department of Social Work with the community of social work practice. The Advisory Council meets four times a year and serves a variety of functions. Members coordinate the annual student survey, meet with CSWE representatives, raise money for the Social Work Endowment Fund and serve on faculty search committees. In addition, for the coming year, the Advisory Council will be reviewing and revising the by-laws. The Advisory Council are always looking for new members. If you or someone you know is interested in joining, contact Chris Budnick, chair of the Advisory Council, at 821-1140 or chris.budnick@hpowc.org.

Recent council projects include the following:
- Developing and distributing student surveys annually to get feedback on the Department of Social Work.
- Producing a newsletter to keep alumni and friends informed of the Department of Social Work activities.
- Developing a discretionary Enhancement Fund which is used to help students with professional development.
I’m excited to report that this year’s Social Work Advisory Council donated $875.00 to the Social Work Enhancement Fund. This was achieved through close to 100% member participation. These contributions will enable social work students to have an enriched academic experience by providing financial assistance for additional activities such as conferences and workshops that are not funded through tuition and state appropriations. We’re proud to have been able to contribute to such an important fund.
Chris Budnick, Chair of the Advisory Council
